After receiving her MA from Columbia University, an MS from University at Albany, and an MSW from New York University, Stephanie joined Friends of Recovery – New York (FOR-NY) in 2015 and worked at the state and national levels on public policy issues affecting individuals and families impacted by addiction. As a person in sustained recovery, Stephanie now serves as Director of the NYS Ombudsman Office to oversee a new statewide program to help New Yorkers access treatment, harm reduction and peer support services along the full continuum of healthcare, and is an adjunct professor at NYU’s Silver School of Social Work.
