For eight years, Serenity House Communities has served the Flint/Genesee County, Michigan community by advocating for people in recovery & providing holistic options for those recovering from substance use disorder (SUD), codependency, & trauma. Since its inception in 2015, SHC has offered peer-based recovery support services that include recovery coaching, support groups, systems navigation, recovery resource dissemination, life skills training, & social recovery activities to holistically support the needs of those experiencing SUD in our community. SHC serves upwards of 1,900 people impacted by SUD annually.

Serenity House’s Founder & Executive Director, Tara Moreno-Wallen drew inspiration for creating Serenity House from her own recovery journey. From her lived experience, Moreno-Wallen intimately understood the importance of offering multiple pathways to recovery. As a peer-led organization, SHC has a track record that demonstrates success in achieving positive outcomes in both the delivery of Peer Recovery Support Services (PRSS) & recovery-oriented events & activities that support both those in recovery & their families.
