Refocus: Look Again is a public education campaign from On Our Own of Maryland’s Anti-Stigma Project and is designed to challenge misconceptions and assumptions associated with mental health and substance use. Our goal is to foster change through awareness and dialogue about the real and damaging impact of stigma. For close to thirty years, people from varied professional backgrounds and lived experiences have benefited from Anti-Stigma Project workshops. In addition to a wide variety of stakeholders within the behavioral health arena, we also provide training for those whose work intersects with behavioral health, such as hospitals, community-based organizations, military units, local and county government offices, faith communities, law enforcement crisis intervention teams, judges, schools and universities, and workforce development programs. The public education campaign was designed to reach an even wider audience beyond our workshops and technical assistance offerings. On Our Own of Maryland, Inc. (OOOMD) is a statewide peer-operated behavioral health advocacy and education organization which promotes equality, justice, autonomy, and choice about life decisions for individuals with mental health and substance use needs.
