Brent served as the Executive Director of the Alano Club of Portland for over a decade, where he transformed the organization into the largest non-clinical recovery support center in the United States. Under his leadership, the Club became a national model for recovery community organizations, offering a wide range of services, including recovery support groups, peer mentoring, yoga, mindfulness training, wellness seminars, and sober social events. Each month, more than 10,000 individuals visit the Club for these recovery-focused programs, making it a vital hub for people in recovery.

Beyond his work at the Alano Club, Brent made significant contributions to national recovery advocacy, held leadership roles in organizations such as Facing Addiction, Faces & Voices of Recovery, and the Association of Recovery Community Organizations. His advocacy extended to notable events like the 2015 UNITE to Face Addiction rally and the first Caucus for Addiction Solutions at the 2016 Democratic National Convention. In Oregon, Brent was a strong voice for recovery, served on multiple state and local committees, and co-founded the Oregon Recovery High School Initiative. With a Master’s Degree in Public Affairs from the University of Oregon, Brent’s dedication to the recovery community was driven by his personal experience as a father in long-term recovery.
