Helene Loper
Helene Loper has over 30 years pastoral experience, nonviolent activism, interfaith dialogue, and 19 years of recovery. After completing her Doctor of Ministry program in 2010, she volunteered to do spirituality of 12 Step recovery groups at the START Program, an adolescent inpatient facility in Fayette, Alabama. In 2016 she was certified as a CRSS in Alabama and was urged to write about these groups by the Director of Substance Use Services for NWAMHC, the umbrella nonprofit mental health agency for START. The revised edition of that book includes new groups and a few more ideas for original topics as well as a new chapter on the connection between human cognitive and faith development.
